Hi, I'm

imageedit_4_9522304028_edited.png

My  passion is decolonizing mental health systems that tell Black women and women of color they must present themselves in a certain way to be acceptable. I believe these systems can cause harm when they invalidate individuals on a cultural, spiritual, and ancestral level. As such, I seek to help liberate those who desire to have their voices heard and their lived experiences centered while they seek healing.

My interest in the mental health field started when I was still a teenager. Like so many of my clients, I naturally became the designated person to hold space for people who wanted to share their feelings and challenging experiences. In those times, I desired to learn how I could support both my friends and myself “when I grew up.” While pursuing my degrees, I became more and more aware of the misrepresentation or erasure of Black women in the narratives from textbooks and lesson plans. Through these experiences I became particularly drawn to therapy and mental health advocacy for Black women.

I work with Black women and women of color who identify as high achieving or may have been labeled as high functioning. Externally, they may look like they have it all together, but they don’t always feel like that on the inside. They recognize that there is room for self-improvement and prioritizing themselves, but they currently struggle to implement changes that move them toward accomplishing those goals. These women recognize the impact that various oppressive systems have on their current situation, and they are ready to challenge the dominant narrative to make their own path. I work together with my clients to help them learn to trust their own voice and realize how empowered they already are.

Your therapist is human, too-

Outside of work hours you can find me enjoying live music, trying new restaurants, switching up my hairstyle, or relaxing with my cat, Simba. I collect books and boots. Three things I always have available in my home are fresh sunflowers, hot Cheetos, and boba tea.
